The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) and Iowa State University (ISU) Extension are teaming up to provide training for pork producers and others who need certification in the Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQAPlus) program. One such session has been set for March 1 in Mahaska County.

ISU Extension swine program specialist Terry Steinhart will teach the session at the ISU Extension Mahaska County office, 212 North I Street, in Oskaloosa.

“The PQAPlus® session begins at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $25 and payable at the door,” he said. “This is for people who are seeking certification for the first time, as well as those whose original three-year certification is expiring.”

Those who plan to attend should let Steinhart know as soon as possible to ensure adequate materials for all attendees. To preregister or ask for more information, contact the ISU Extension  Keokuk County office at 800-515-2680 or e-mail Steinhart at To see other certification sessions taught by ISU Extension swine program specialists, see the IPIC website
