Pork producers in and around Minnesota may want to take note of a Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA Plus) and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) program offering.

Spanish language certification trainings will be offered on Sept. 7 at Boys Supply, 32686 460th Ave., Hancock, Minn. The trainings begin at 1 p.m.

The Spanish language trainings are free but preregistration is requested to assure that there is adequate seating and materials. To preregister, call or send an email to PQA Plus / TQA Trainer Orlando Gill at (712) 240-0624 or translat@mtcnet.net.

PQA Plus certification is required for individuals who provide daily care of pigs, such as managers and employees, and is a condition of sale by nearly all U.S. packers.

TQA training is also a common hog packer requirement for on-farm animal handlers and for truck or trailer drivers delivering hogs to the plant.
