Agribusiness owners running or servicing pork production businesses now have access to a free app that’s designed to help them become more efficient in their day-to-day operations. Alltech launched the app at its 27th Annual International Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium in Lexington, Ky., this week. This first-of-its-kind app focuses on three features - weather, commodity prices and pig issues.
“After listening to the marketplace, we realized this was something that is sorely needed,” says Billy Frey, digital marketing manager at Alltech. “Alltech’s number one goal is to help farmers and feed mills become more efficient, and therefore more profitable. This app is part of our new digital marketing plan that will provide information to those in agriculture in a real-time format.”
The app is available for iPhone and Android users. It can be found in the App Store or in the Android marketplace under the name “Alltech.” While currently focused on pig production, the app will be expanded into all species of livestock and poultry.
Alltech’s 2011 International Symposium taking place this week is designed to provide opportunities for professionals to huddle in specialized breakout sessions – including aquaculture, beef, dairy, equine, poultry, pig production, pet food, regulatory, food quality, traceability and communication in agriculture. Sessions are dedicated to the open discussion of creative strategies for revolutionizing industry practices and thus redefining its future, according to organizers.
New to the Alltech Symposium this year is the incorporation of several technologies, such as a Twitter-feed wall displaying tweets that contain #alltechsymposium. The opening plenary session was streamed live on Alltech’s homepage..
For more information and additional options, go to Alltech’s 2011 Symposium website.
Alltech’s Innovations blog is being updated throughout the Symposium to include photos from the event, video interviews with speakers, podcasts, and the most salient points from the specialized breakout sessions. Join in the conversation on Twitter by using the hashtag: #AlltechSymposium.
