Preparations for the 21st annual World Pork Expo are in full-swing, featuring a new Wednesday, Thursday and Friday timing that promises to allow producers to be home for the weekend.
World Pork Expo will take place June 3-5 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. A full schedule is planned for 2009 including the Marketing Information Center, sponsored by Pork Magazine; Pork Academy, sponsored by the Pork Checkoff; Industry Tour, Educational Seminars and Farm Toy Show and Sale by the National Farm Toy Museum.
Thursday evening musical entertainment will feature Tony Valdez and the Retro Rockets; Confederate Railroad and Sonny Geraci and the Outsiders.
Both the National Swine Registry Breed Show and Sale and the World Pork Expo Junior National will be held during the week as well as the BarbeQlossal cooking contest.
World Pork Expo trade show hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. The Marketing Information Center runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
