USDA has released the "Pre-Harvest Security Guidelines and Checklist 2006" to help producers enhance security at the farm level. The agency designed the measures to help protect against natural disasters, as well as the unintentional or intentional introduction of plant or animal diseases.

USDA developed the voluntary guidelines and checklists based upon recommendations made by producers throughout the United States. Although this documents doesn’t contain guidelines specifically for pork operations, there are tips for general agriculture, crops and other livestock

USDA's local Farm Service Agency Service Centers are distributing the "Pre-Harvest Security Guidelines and Checklist 2006" to agricultural producers throughout the country. More information about USDA's homeland security efforts is available online.
