A new year and new changes at Tyson Foods as Dick Bond, the company's president and chief executive officer, is leaving the company, effective immediately.

According to Tyson, Leland Tollett, former chairman and CEO, has agreed to return to the company to serve in an interim position until a permanent candidate is found.

"After seven years of helping lead or leading the world's largest meat company, I have decided it is in my best interest personally, and the best interest of the company for me to move on and pursue other interests," Bond said in a release posted on Tyson's Web site. "I have a lot of time and personal finances invested in Tyson Foods, so I wish the company all the best for future success."

The release had no further information regarding Bond's reasons for leaving or future plans.

According to Gary Mickelson,Tyson spokesperson, the company will file a form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission later this week, which will contain more information on Bond's exit.
