The National Pork Board’s Trucker Quality Assurance instructor training workshops will be offered in eight different locations across the United States from Nov. 30, 2004 to Feb. 1, 2005. Training is offered to people wishing to become certified TQA instructors and to currently certified instructors wishing to renew their certification. All certified TQA Instructors need to renew their certification prior to Feb. 1, 2005, to remain current and to continue certifying individuals.

TQA instructors participate by educating truckers and others involved in handling live hogs before, during and immediately after transport on issues related to humane animal handling, hog loading and unloading and biosecurity. There is mounting evidence that TQA training has contributed to fewer transport-related deaths and in the number of fatigued pigs from transport.
