President Bush has announced that he intends to nominate Ellen Terpstra as chief agricultural negotiator in the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Terpstra currently serves as U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services. The nomination will require U.S. Senate confirmation.
“The National Pork Producers Council looks forward to working with Ellen Terpstra in her new position on trade initiatives,” says Bryan Black, NPPC president. “She will bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge about agricultural trade to USTR and we urge the U.S. Senate to quickly confirm her.”
Terpstra previously was administrator of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. She holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.
