Swift & Co. officials asy that the company has now returned to "normal" staffing levels following last December's U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.
The raids mostly impacted four beef plants and about 950 of their employees. Two Swift Pork processing plants also were involved. While, Swift's pork operations returned to normal levels by March, the beef plants faced greater delays.
Swift officials also reported a revised financial impact statement on the raids. Citing longer than expected delays in getting the beef plants back up to speed, Swift officials estimate the raids' impact was $45 to $50 million versus the $30 million previously cited.
