Seaboard Foods will be honored by the city of Guymon, Okla. for the contributions made to the community by the company’s local pork plant, according to a report by the Guymon Daily Herald.

Meatingplace.com reports Guymon residents and businesses are working to schedule a "Seaboard Appreciation Weekend" in October, which is National Pork Month, the report said.

Seaboard also will be celebrating its 15th anniversary during October.

Local Guymon businesses report they have prospered as a result of the economic growth fueled by Seaboard's pork plant and wish to express their gratitude. Local businesses and residents plan a banquet, picnics, games and train rides to entertain Seaboard employees and their families.
