Seaboard Farms has applied for a permit to the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission to build a site in the Texas panhandle that would have the capacity to house 88,300 hogs, according to the Amarillo Globe-News.

The location would be about 12 miles northwest of Stinnet, Texas, in Hutchinson and Moore counties.

The public will have 30 days from publication of the notice to send written comments to the TNRCC. A public hearing will be conducted if the TNRCC executive director determines there is a significant degree of public interest in the application.

Written public hearings requests, comments and contested case requests should be submitted to: Office of the Clerk, MC 105, TNRCC, P.O. Box 1387, Austin, TX 78711-3087. For additional information, the public may call the Office of Public Assistance at (800) 687-4040.

Seaboard acknowledged that an application had been filed, but had no further comment.
