Russia has suspended shipments from more U.S. pork slaughter and packing plants, according to USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Among those plants were Hormel Foods, Austin, Minn.; Quality Pork Processors, Austin, Minn.; Trim-Rite Food Corp., Carpentersville, Ill.; L&K Packing International, Schleswig, Iowa; and Ankeny Processing Services, Ankeny, Iowa. The ban is effective Jan. 1.

According to an FSIS spokesperson, Russia's latest action brings the total number of U.S. pork plants de-listed to 19. The actions started from Russia's audit of U.S. facilities in October.

FSIS officials have not received any additional information from Russia beyond letters stating that that the designated plants do not meet Russian requirements.
