Russia will open its market to U.S. pork and sub-pork products, according to a Dow Jones report released yesterday. The country's federal food-quality oversight service has provided the long-awaited blessing.

This means that U.S. pork supplies can be used for industrial processing and for direct sale. Russia had only allowed pork in that was designated for industrial processing.

Product will be accepted from all slaughterhouses, meat-processing enterprises and cold stores included in an approved list of companies permitted to export pork to Russia, reports Meatingplace.com.

Russian government officials added that six more companies have been included in the list, they include Verschoor Meats, Premium Standard Farms, Albert Lea Select Foods, American Cold Storage in Jackson, American Cold Storage in Humboldt, and Frozen Assets Cold Storage.
