Russia has suspended imports of pork from the Pine Ridge Farms' plant of Des Moines, Iowa, according to Meatingplace.com. The ban affects product produced on or after July 28 which is ineligible to export to Russia.

According to Brian Mabry, USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the cause of the ban stems from the detection of salmonella.

According to the FSIS Web site: Certificates can be signed for pork originating from this establishment through July 27, 2009. Product must be loaded on ship by July 27, 2009. Effective July 28, 2009, this establishment is ineligible to export to the Russian Federation.
