The Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina has received more than $4 million in funding from the USDA to conduct an exhaustive study on livestock and meat marketing.
Congress funded the project in 2003 to study the cattle, hog and lamb industries. The study is intended to give producers better information on non-traditional marketing arrangements and to identify emerging marketing information needs of market participants.
RTI is an independent, non-profit corporation that specializes in bringing a multidisciplinary team approach to research projects. Participants will include researchers from Colorado State University, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Montana State University, North Carolina State University and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
