The National Pork Board will present the Pork Quality and Safety Summit Aug. 17-18 and the Antimicrobial Resistance and Alternatives Summit on Aug. 18.  Both meetings will be held at the University Park Holiday Inn in West Des Moines, Iowa. 

This bi-annual meeting will present research and conduct discussions on all levels of pork quality. There will be general sessions and three break-out sessions on the following: 1) Pork Quality, 2) Post-Harvest Pork Safety, 3) Pre-Harvest Pork Safety.  The Pork Quality and Safety Summit will begin at 10:00 a.m. Aug. 17 and run through Noon on Aug. 18. 

The Antimicrobial Resistance and Alternatives Summit will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 18, and end at 5:00 p.m. It will include updates on plans for research, education and communications on antimicrobial use and resistance issues in pork production, as well as results of pork checkoff-funded research in this area.
