Indiana Pork, a group that promotes the state's pork products, has begun a campaign to donate 1 million meals containing pork to Indiana's families in need, reports the IndyStar.com.

Indiana Pork includes is made up of the Indiana Pork Producers Association and the Indiana Pork Advocacy Coalition. They kick kicked off their effort last Friday (Aug. 7) with a $10,000 donation to Feeding Indiana’s Hungry Inc. The pork meals will be distributed across the state through the nine food banks that are members of Feeding Indiana’s Hungry.

John Etling, president of Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, says nearly 600,000 Hoosiers don’t get enough to eat, including 190,000 children.
