Following last week’s murder of an abortion doctor in Wichita, Kan., People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals quickly moved to exploit the emotional and divisive issue of abortion.

Always eager for easy publicity regardless of taste, the group erected billboards in the city urging people on both sides of the issue to go vegetarian. One version of the billboard says, "Pro-Life? Go Vegetarian." The other says, "Pro-Choice? Choose Vegetarian." Both feature a photo of three baby chicks, implying that eating meat kills those babies.

Wichita has long been a hotbed of abortion debate. Many community residents have objected to the campaign, according to an article in The Wichita Eagle, and are calling on billboard companies to reject the ads.
