Saying that no cow is as happy as the cows in the “Happy Cows” advertisements by the California Milk Advisory Board, PETA has filed an appeal.
In March, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals filed suit saying the ads were example of false advertisements. However, the case was dismissed when Superior Court Judge David Garcia ruled that state government is exempt from the false advertising laws that apply to private industry. In their appeal, PETA argues that state agencies should not be exempt from the rule and must be held accountable in their advertisements the same as private industry.
