“Burger King has made a business decision to phase out buying pork from farms that use sow stalls. The National Pork Producers Council respects Burger King’s right to make decisions it believes are in its best interest. This does not change the association’s policy on sow stalls," NPPC officials released this statement on Thursday, March 29.
The statement went on to say: “The American Veterinary Medical Association and other organizations recognize sow stalls and group-housing systems as appropriate for providing for the well-being of sows. NPPC supports the right of all producers to choose housing that ensures the well-being of their animals and that is appropriate for their operations.”
