The National Pork Board has requested all U.S. pork producers to complete the Pork Quality Assurance Plus program in the next three years. Successful completion of the PQA Plus program involves the achievement of two objectives including ‘Certification’ and ‘Site status’.
Both achievements are possible by working through a trained and certified PQA Plus adviser. The recommendation was made by the NPB at the Pork Industry Forum held recently in St. Louis. The NPB has developed PQA Plus as a credible, affordable and workable solution for pork producers to implement on their operations.
Among topics covered in the PQA Plus program include herd health, responsible use of antibiotics, medication and treatment records, feeding procedures and animal well-being. For information on the PQA Plus program, go to www.pork.org.
