The National Pork Board has approved $750,000 to increase consumer demand for pork, particularly for people who are interested in low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets.
These new checkoff-funded initiatives include developing a new advertising campaign around the slogan “Not all proteins are created equal” and working with a beverage company to produce a newspaper food page celebrating summer grilling and the “Power of Protein.”
Through this new funding, a new Web site section will be developed to highlight a variety of low-carbohydrate recipes available and a new sort mechanism will be added to help pull these recipes to the forefront. Related pictures will be created or updated to reflect new diet trends, including removing high-carbohydrate items as side dishes.
