The National Institute of Animal Agriculture will hold its 2006 annual meeting on April 3-6 at the Galt House Hotel & Suites in Louisville, Ky. The theme for the event will be “Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning – Applying a Full-Court Press for Animal Agriculture”

"Increasing threats of intentional and unintentional introduction of a devastating foreign animal disease, and prospects of natural disasters such as last year's hurricanes have us focused on the future of our industry," say NIAA officials.  A full-court press is needed to ensure that prevention and biosecurity measures are in place, response is rapid and deliberate, and business continuity is achievable."

At the 2006 NIAA Annual Meeting ag-industry leaders will zero-in on those issues and more. A full-day symposium will be devoted to "Disaster Recovery Planning", addressing the steps needed from the onset of a disaster to the resumption of business to a full recovery.

"We also anticipate exciting discussions from our species- and issue-based committees, such as Animal Identification and Information Systems, Animal Health Emergency Management, Animal Production Food Safety & Security, and Emerging Diseases," say NIAA officials.
