A Livestock, Meat and Poultry Evaluation Systems committee has approved a Guide for the Development of Independent Third-Party Verification. The standard provides an internationally recognized set of guidelines for companies that test the accuracy of livestock, meat and poultry evaluation devices and systems.

The committee feels that the standard will add integrity to the livestock, meat and poultry industries by requiring that all evaluation systems and reference materials be certified by an independent third party that meets specified guidelines.
The standard will eliminate the use of electronic evaluating devices that give readings that are false and that facilitate the perpetration of fraud. Now the industry can move to getting accurate results from an electronic evaluation device.
