The Korea Times reports foot-and-mouth disease has spread to at least three more cattle farms raising concerns the disease could reach other parts of the country soon.

The disease originated Monday in Andong on two pig farms, cattle in a nearby farm were infected by the following day. The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries confirmed cases at three more cattle farms on Thursday, resulting in the decision to kill and bury 800 cows and pigs within a 500 meter radius of the infected farms.

Two of the infected cattle farms are less than 4 kilometers from the original infected pig farms, the third cattle farm is even closer to the farm initially infected, only 2.5 kilometers. The ministry suspects another farm may be infected and the disease may spread across the city or even further.
