Novartis Animal Health announces new packaging for Denagard Liquid Concentrate, a highly effective, broad-spectrum antibiotic for swine. The new package delivers 7 percent more water-soluble medication without an increase in price.
Denagard Liquid Concentrate provides fast, effective treatment for key enteric and respiratory infections that can be extremely detrimental to swine health, growth and performance. The product is a water-based formulation of tiamulin that is administered through drinking water for quick, convenient dosing. It provides a fast-acting response that is typically visible within 24 to 48 hours.
The new packaging presents Denagard Liquid Concentrate in a bottle containing 33.8 fluid ounces with 125 grams of Denagard. Previously, the product was packaged in a bottle containing 32 fluid ounces with 116.4 grams of Denagard.
When left untreated, respiratory diseases such as pneumonia advance rapidly and can be very contagious, with high morbidity and mortality. Enteric diseases such as swine dysentery can cause depression, lack of appetite, diarrhea and weight loss. If pigs have gone off feed, Denagard Liquid Concentrate’s unique formulation allows them to quickly receive needed medication through their water supply.
For the treatment of swine dysentery, administer 3.5 mg of Denagard Liquid Concentrate per pound. To treat swine pneumonia, administer 10.5 mg per pound. For full use directions and withdrawal times consult the product label.
Strong demand for the product tightened inventory and supply earlier in 2011, but the new, larger bottle with seven percent more Denagard is now available for purchase through all Novartis distribution outlets.
