The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) is partnering with Iowa State University Extension swine specialists and the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) to offer Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) Plus and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) certification sessions free of charge at World Pork Expo in June.
The sessions will be offered Wednesday, June 8. The PQA Plus session will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the TQA training will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to each session. The sessions will be conducted in room A-2 of the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.
Due to room capacity, sessions are limited to the first 25 pre-registrants. To pre-register, contact Tyler Bettin, IPPA producer education director, at (800) 372-7675 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
PQA Plus and TQA focus on producer, employee and transporter education relating to animal well-being and food safety. IPPA encourages all producers and their employees to become PQA Plus- and TQA-certified. Both programs are part of the We Care responsible pork initiative, which is an industry aligned initiative establishing ethical principles for pork producers to produce safe food, protect and promote animal well-being, protect public health, safeguard natural resources, provide a safe work environment and contribute to a better quality of life in their communities.
