Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has introduced the “Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012,” S. 3239, which seeks to codify an agreement between the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and the United Egg Producers (UEP) to nearly double the size of space allotted to egg-laying hens.

The measure, introduced the same day as the Senate Agriculture Committee’s version of the 2012 Farm Bill, is similar to legislation introduced in the House in January by Rep. Kurt Schrader, D-Ore., according to the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC).

The legislation is strongly opposed by NPPC, which said it would set a dangerous precedent for allowing federal bureaucrats to regulate on-farm production practices.

NPPC is asking its members to call their senators to urge them to oppose S. 3239.

“If egg producers want to agree with HSUS on hen-housing standards, that’s their business,” according to R.C. Hunt, NPPC president. “But when they attempt to codify those rules in federal law, that’s everyone’s business — at least all of us in food-animal production. Producers don’t need HSUS — or the federal bureaucrats — to tell them how to run their farms.”

According to NPPC, if the legislation were enacted it would take away producers’ freedom to operate in ways that are best for their animals. It would also raise retail food prices and take away consumer choice and redirect valuable resources from enhancing food safety and maintaining the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture.

Feinstein may attempt to offer S. 3239 as an amendment to the Senate 2012 Farm Bill or to agriculture appropriations legislation.

Meanwhile, the UEP has launched a website,, promoting the passage of legislation introduced by Schrader.

How much space does a laying hen in the U.S. deserve Mr. RC Hunt? Stick to the issue please!

Another bill to line their feathers. The highest bidder from lobby groups will win the day. We are plunging into economic abyss and they want to impose more government regulations. They all must go!

HSUS, PeTA and the ALF are one in the same. HSUS just wears a suit. Notice the number of fake scientific studies telling us that meat kills. Well just as many vegans die of heart disease. This propaganda is put out by radical animal rights groups who are the new nazis making false claims to close down their competitors and harassing farmers and telling the public that everyone who raises animals for food or companionship are evil abusers. Anyone who thinks they can work with this organization know this that they have stated they will take down American agriculture. Any politician who works with HSUS, PeTA or the ALF are traitors to this country and our bill of rights. These radicals are cult members and as such believe any act they take whether it be lying or violent they have the right to do so because they are above the law. They have cost this country billions of dollars and increase our food prices. In Europe businesses are closing because they do no have eggs at decent prices to make food affordable. The animal rights cult has to go as they are on purpose starving undeveloped countries by preventing them from using their own resources. 12 million children die each year from lack of high quality meat protein and his cult continues to prevent them from raising meat and now they are trying to do it in this country. So far 16 infants have died because their strict vegan parents refused to follow their doctor's orders to feed them meat protein. That is how irrational they have become and will force this dangerous cult on our children. They no longer see moderate eating of meat as viable and in fact are working in our public schools to convince all of our children that eating meat is bad for your health. Meat is what gave us our brains and without meat our brain cells will die. Do not allow this cult into your school with the KIND books as they are full of propaganda about not eating meat.
