David Fremark of Miller, S.D., is a U.S. Meat Export Federation Executive Committee member and serves as president of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (SDCUC). He was part of a delegation of leaders from the SDCUC and the Kansas Corn Commission who recently toured agricultural operations near Beijing, China.

They also met with several meat importers and traders and gained a feel for the rapid growth of China’s supermarket and restaurant industries. The group also visited Hong Kong and Macau, two areas that serve as significant economic hubs for international trade.

Kansas Corn Commission Executive Director Jere White shared Fremark’s enthusiasm for the growing range of trade opportunities with China, especially for U.S. red meat exports.
