Johnsonville Sausage and Premium Standard Farms have formed a joint venture to purchase the Oldham’s sausage plant in Holton, Kansas from ConAgra Foods. The plant has both pork slaughtering and processing capabilities, and employs 160 people. The name of the new joint venture is Oldham’s LLC.   Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Johnsonville President Ralph Stayer says the enterprise is a good fit for the nation’s premier sausage company. “This venture allows us to acquire a quality plant with a quality partner,” says Stayer. “It’s just what we need to meet the growing global demand for Johnsonville Sausage.”

Oldham’s is a good opportunity for Premium Standard Farms, according to chief executive officer John Meyer. “We have supplied Johnsonville for a number of years, and we know their passion for quality and customer service,” notes Meyer.

Irvin Sanderson of Johnsonville will be the plant manager for Oldham’s. He has 12 years of industry experience and will be moving to Holton from Sheboygan Falls, Wis.
