If you are you looking for quality seed to plant in 2005, then check out the new Iowa Seed Directory. The Iowa Crop Improvement Association recently published the new guide as a resource for finding quality seeds of barley, native prairie species, oat, soybean and triticale.

The Iowa Seed Directory contains seed production information from more than 100 producers and seed conditioners. The listing includes ICIA members ranging from farmer-owned seed enterprises to multinational companies. The directory also lists fields that were inspected for seed quality and genetic purity during the 2004 season.

The association encourages you to request analysis information when buying seed. You can obtain documentation of seed germination, purity and presence of weed species. This assures that buyers are purchasing quality seed.

The Iowa Seed Directory is free and available by contacting ICIA at (515) 294-6921. The directory also can be found on the ICIA Web site at http://www.agron.iastate.edu/icia/.
