For pork producers interested in checking out the Iowa Premium Pork Company's potential purchase of the Hartley pork processing plant, the co-op has schedule another tour. On Monday, March 1, starting at 1 p.m. IPPC will open the doors for a plant tour and follow with an informal question-and-answer session at the Hartley, Iowa, Community Center.

IPPC will hold a series of meetings around Iowa to provide producers with an opportunity to discuss the Hartley project. The meetings will not include a formal presentation, but rather will focus on answering any remaining questions that producers may have, say co-op officials. Information on these meetings can be obtained by calling Marston McGwin at (877) 572-7675.

Additional information about the plant can be found at The Hartley Further Processing Project is a subsidiary of Majestic Food Group, L.L.C.  The Web site includes pictures of the Hartley plant, information and tools to estimate the price producers will receive for hogs, and the information that producers and their advisors should consider in evaluating an investment in the Hartley project.

IPPC still needs to raise $5 million to $6.5 million by April 1, which is the deadline to buy shares in the project. Production at the plant is scheduled to begin in August. Eligible producers include those in: Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
