Alan Wilhoite, Lebanon, was elected president of the Indiana Pork Producers Association. Other officers elected were: president-elect, Monty Moss, Burnettsville; and vice president, Mike Lewis, Greenfield.
Wilhoite and his wife, Marcia, own and operate Wilhoite Family Farms, a grain farm and 1,200 sow farrow-to-finish operation. He has served as past president of the Boone County Pork Producers Association and various leadership positions within the Indiana Pork Producers Association.
Wilhoite believes major issues for 2005 are helping local community leaders and residents understand the importance of pork production in their communities. He recently completed the Operation Main Street training at National Pork Board in order to be a spokesperson for the pork industry in local communities. Wilhoite adds that assisting producers in finding ways to keep Indiana's pork industry viable and growing is a top priority for IPPA.
