Indiana Packers, which is a joint venture of Mitsubishi and Itoham, will be expanding its pork-processing operations in Delphi, Ind. Indiana Packers is planning to commit $43 million to increase the plant’s capacity by 15 percent.

The deal was announced in Tokyo on Sunday as part of Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels' trade mission to Japan and South Korea.

The Delphi expansion is in addition to a $69-million, company-wide expansion. The company's complete plan will total $112 million and add 400 jobs. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. provided incentives to assist with both expansion projects. 
Since 2003, Indiana Packers has increased its processing capacity by more than one-third. The Delphi plant now employees 1,500 workers.
