Supermarket chain Hy-Vee, based in West Des Moines, Iowa, said it plans to sell 1 million pork tenderloins at its stores in the month of January, according to Meatingplace.com.
Throughout the month of January the company's Jumbo Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches will be priced at $2.88. Hy-Vee said it will make a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for every sandwich sold. The company will be rolling out other sales during the month.
"We're proud to support our local pork producers, so we've bought a million pork tenderloins and will be passing the savings along to our customers," the company said in a news release.
The "One MILLION Tenderloin Sale" involves each of Hy-Vee's 220 stores in eight states, according to the Iowa Pork Producers Association. If Hy-Vee reaches its goal, the company will have sold 300,000 pounds of boneless pork loin, the organization said.
