The University of Minnesota Extension announced help for pork producers faced with tough financial times. The help comes in the form of web sites delivering researched-based information on production, economics and business management. The site also provides resources for managing family-related issues and personal stress.

The pork industry is currently experiencing financially-challenging times. A combination of high feed costs and below-cost hog prices is stretching pork producer resources and making for uncertain times.

Producers who do not have access to the Internet may call Extension’s toll free farm information line at 800-232-9077 with questions Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Questions at other times of the day and on weekends can be left on voice mail and will be returned during staff hours.

The site can be accessed at http://www.extension.umn.edu/swine/components/finances.html.
