The National Pork Board has signed on Guy Fieri, a Food Network chef, to introduce NPB's "Bring it t-ON-g" Pork Grilling Challenge. The project will encourage consumers to submit their boldest grilled pork recipes.
"Guy is known for his bold style -- and bold flavors are a hot culinary trend in 2008," says Traci Rodemeyer, NPB's pork information director. No question that Fieri's the right chef for the task. His "energetic, spirited style and spicy flavors like Mojo Pork Chops" are excellent examples of what the project hopes to achieve, nots Rodemeyer.
The competition will conclude with three pork grilling finalists who will participate in a Sept. 4, competition that Fieri will judge. The winner will receive $5,000, the new Char-Broil RED Infrared Gas Grill, grilling accessories and a two-night stay in New York.
Fieri has been promoting the contest through a satellite media tour during, involving live interviews with more than 21 television and radio stations nationwide. He's also participating in a podcast, which is available on NPB's Web site at www.pork.org.
