For three days each year, nearly 20,000 pork producers and pork industry professionals venture to Des Moines, Iowa, to attend World Pork Expo (WPX). This year’s event runs from Wednesday, June 6 through Friday, June 8, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
WPX, brought to you by the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), presents the world's largest pork-specific trade show, featuring more than 450 commercial exhibitors. But there’s much more, including seminars, fun, food and entertainment.
Pork producers can view the newest products, services and technologies for pork production during trade show hours, which run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
A variety of educational seminars will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, at the fairgrounds’ Varied Industries Building. You will find business seminars that focus on new technologies and management techniques, as well as PORK Academy presentations that address production, management and a variety of issued impacting U.S. pork producers.
In the Swine Barn, you will find the WPX Junior National swine show. Exhibitors from across the country will show on Wednesday and Thursday. Juniors also can participate in Youth PQA Plus training and judging contests. On Friday morning, attendees can view open-class swine shows, and breeding stock sales will take place on Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. until completion.
Throughout WPX, the National Swine Registry America’s Best Genetics Alley will be on display in the Cattle Barn. It will showcase prominent purebred genetic resources, including seedstock suppliers, semen companies and exporting firms.
For pre-registration discounts, go to worldpork.org. You’ll find the most up-to-date WPX program information at that website as well.
