World Pork Expo Industry Tours & Short Course

The Industry Tour takes visitors to various industry-related organizations around the state.

Pricing $350 (hotel not included). Cost includes both tours, World Pork Expo admission, lunch, and dinner both days.

Tour 1 — Midwest Ag Highlights

Monday, June 7th

Start off the day touring PDI, one of the largest food distribution companies delivering to seven states in the Midwest. Then travel north of Des Moines to see more Midwest agriculture in action. First, visit IVESCO, a distributor of animal health products across the United States. Also tour Hawkeye Renewables, an ethanol producer, followed by Christensen Farms feed mill (one of the top five producers in the U.S.).

Tour 2 — Iowa Agriculture

Tuesday, June 8th

Begin the day with a tour of Kinze, one of Iowa’s largest agricultural equipment manufacturers. Travel to Eastern Iowa to tour a full scale Midwest farming operation, Cinnamon Ridge Farms. Along with crop farming 4,000 acres of corn/soybeans, the farm also has wean to finish hog buildings, a beef operation, and a Jersey cow dairy operation. After enjoying a home cooked lunch, participants will tour the farming operation including an inside look of the modern wean to finish swine facility. Finish the day out with dinner at a historical restaurant in Iowa’s Amana Colonies.

International Hotel

Casino Night

Enjoy an evening of entertainment at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino! As a tour participant, you will have access to transportation to and from the casino the evening of Wednesday, June 9. Once at the casino, eat dinner for $13.95 at the buffet or test your luck at betting.

Transportation

Shuttle buses will be provided from the Airport Holiday Inn to and from the World Pork Expo as well as Jordan Creek Mall (www.jordancreektowncenter.com).
