National 4-H Council has named Mitch Head as its new chief information officer. As CIO, Mr. Head will lead domestic and global technology strategies and provide leadership and direction in establishing efficient, cost-effective information systems that support the 4-H movement. 4-H, the youth development program of the nation's land-grant universities and Cooperative Extension System, empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with adults.

Mr. Head brings more than 15 years of experience overseeing the strategy, planning and implementation of business and technology transformation initiatives for the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mitch and his expertise in IT strategy and technology innovation to National 4-H Council's senior leadership team,” said Jennifer Sirangelo, National 4-H Council President and CEO. “Technology is an important part of our growth strategy and ensuring that we are making the right investments to help reach more young people with high quality 4-H programs is vital," added Sirangelo.

Most recently, Mr. Head served as AARP’s Director of Technology Strategy and Innovation where he was responsible for leading the strategy and innovation function within the Division of Information Technology Services. In this position, he focused on harnessing data in ways that benefit both the organization and its customers. He also served as AARP's Director of CRM Integrated Technology Delivery where he led a multi-year CRM Transformation Program to change the way AARP’s business units interact with the organization's 37 million members.

“I am excited and honored to join National 4-H Council in my new role as CIO," said Mitch Head. "I look forward to finding new and innovative ways to meet the data and technology needs of Council and the 4-H movement in the United States and around the world."

Prior to working at AARP, Mr. Head served as technical director of International Business Technologies at AOL serving in various capacities. There he was responsible for managing customer relationships with the executive business and technology leadership teams abroad, including the U.K., Netherlands, Japan, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil. Prior to that, he served as AOL's Technical Director of Broadband Business Technologies where he managed the technology components of the “Bring Your Own Access” product launch that was critical to AOL’s corporate broadband strategy and generated 3 million new BYOA customers in 2003.

Mr. Head received his B.A. in philosophy from James Madison University.
