The Center for Food Integrity announces two featured speakers for the upcoming 2009 CFI/National Council of Chain Restaurants Food System Summit taking place Oct. 6-7 at the Airport Hilton Hotel in Kansas City, Mo.
 
John Lamb, agribusiness team leader of World Bank’s Agriculture and Rural Development Department, will open the 2009 Summit with a global view of the food system’s opportunities and challenges. Robert Kenner, director/producer of “Food, Inc.,” a documentary released earlier this summer, will close the first day with a candid discussion of current food system issues. Following his presentation at the Summit, Kenner will then engage in an online question and answer session for food system stakeholders unable to attend the Summit.
 
“The New Normal – Building Consumer Trust during Unprecedented Market Volatility” is the theme of this year’s event,. The Summit will address the lasting impact that today’s high profile issues have on the future of the U.S. food system as well as current challenges and solutions for building and maintaining consumer trust. Along with keynote addresses, breakout sessions are planned with speakers on nutrition, animal welfare, food safety and sustainability.
