The Illinois Pork Producers Association is joining Baconfest Chicago 2011 as their Premier Presenting Sponsor. In addition to defraying the costs of producing the one-day festival of bacon, the IPPA will also work with Baconfest Chicago to support the mission of the event's charity beneficiary – The Greater Chicago Food Depository.

On April 9, as part of the activities for Baconfest Chicago 2011, the Greater Chicago Food Depository will host a food drive collecting non-perishable food from attendees. Attendees who contribute will be entered to win door-prizes and bacon-loot. For every pound of food collected, IPPA will contribute a pound of pork to the GCFD.

“Having been a part of Baconfest Chicago in 2010, we thought it was important to continue our involvement this year,” said Brent Scholl, a pork producer from Polo, IL and current IPPA president.” The event was a great way to connect our commitments as an organization to the consumers that enjoy our products. Andre Pluess, co-founder of Baconfest Chicago agrees. "The Illinois Pork Producers' premier sponsorship makes it possible for Baconfest Chicago to assemble the nation's largest gathering of chefs, artisan bacon-makers, bacon related merchandise and bacon-lovers on April 9, 2011 at the UIC Forum for all those who adore bacon! Like us, they are committed to getting delicious bacon into the stomachs of as many Chicagoans as possible. We are truly grateful to have them as partners and for their generous donation to our charity beneficiary The Greater Chicago Food Depository."

Erik Graves, Cause Marketing Director for the Greater Chicago Food Depository: “Protein is always the highest in demand and least in supply at Food Banks nationwide, making the IPPA donation match an amazingly innovative way for Bacon-lovers and pork-producers to unite resources in support of the GCFDs mission to end hunger in our community.”
