The 2011 World Pork Expo, presented by the National Pork Producers Council, holds many activities and events for a wide range of attendees. Among those is an golf tournament and a clay target championship, and of course, MusicFest.

On Thursday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the 7th Annual World Pork Open Clay Target Championship will take place at the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee, Iowa. Phibro Animal Health is the event sponsor.

Entry fees are $125 per shooter or $625 for a five-person team. The fee includes lunch; a gift; 50 sporting clays, which are scored; 25 five stand targets and three other side games to challenge your shooting skills.  Shooting times are by appointment only and are conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For golfers attending WPX, the Annual World Pork Expo Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, June 10, at the Legacy Golf Club in Norwalk, Iowa. It is sponsored by ADM Alliance Nutrition and Chr. Hansen.

Pork Alliance, which is made up of allied industry representatives, is sponsoring each hole, as well as lunch, golf carts and prize money. Reservations are being accepted for the first 144 golfers who submit their $125 contributions to NPPC’s Pork Pac.  The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. and finish with the awards ceremony in the afternoon.

A fun, free event during WPX is always MusicFest, the social highlight of World Pork Expo. Featuring music and lots of roast pork, MusicFest will take place on Thursday, June 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s performance will feature Highway 101, Papa Doo Run Run, and Tony Valdez and the Retro Rockets..
