A historic gathering of former Secretaries of Agriculture is planned for the 2012 Agricultural Outlook Forum Feb. 23-24, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Va.
Current USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack will moderate the panel of former Secretaries invited to speak on "Agriculture: Visions of the Future." At least six of the last eight Secretaries will participate on the panel.
In addition, Secretary Vilsack will deliver the keynote address at USDA's annual meeting titled "Moving Agriculture Forward,” as the USDA observes its 150th anniversary. The Forum will also feature USDA's agricultural economic outlook and the commodity supply and demand outlooks.
Twenty-five breakout sessions with more than 80 speakers will focus on a broad range of issues related to agriculture and global food security; foreign trade, financial markets, and economic development; food safety; and next generation farmers, among others.
The Outlook Forum provides farmers and ranchers, government, and agribusinesses with sound information for decision-making. Attendees are expected to include members of farm organizations, food and fiber firms, academia and foreign governments.
Full registration for the two-day package is $375. One day registration plans are also available. Registration fees increase Jan. 23. For further information and to register.
