Newsham Choice Genetics, a worldwide leader in swine genetics technology, has added three new professionals.
Danielle Gorbach
Danielle Gorbach has joined Newsham Choice Genetics as a geneticist on the Genomic Discovery and Genetic Evaluation Systems Team.
Gorbach has completed a Ph.D. in genomics and whole genome selection methods in swine at Iowa State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and mathematics from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and served recently as an intern with Newsham Choice Genetics.
Among her responsibilities will be the ongoing assessment of current marker panels in the genetic evaluation process and development of new methodologies for genomic selection.
Chris Sparks

Chris Sparks, Ph.D., has joined Newsham Choice Genetics as Director of Applied Research.
In addition to providing technical support to the Newsham customer base, Sparks will design, implement and oversee external trials as a member of the Product Development Team. Sparks will also provide animal nutritional expertise and continue to align Newsham products throughout the entire pork value chain.
Sparks earned both his master’s degree and his Ph.D. in animal nutrition at Iowa State University. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Missouri, majoring in animal science.
Sparks has more than 12 years of industry experience, most recently as a swine nutritionist with Devenish Nutrition.
Kim Naber
Kim Naber has been named Kansas Nucleus Operations Manager for Newsham Choice Genetics, charged with overseeing operations at NewKan and Gateway facilities. She will also play a role on the Technical Service Team.
From 1982 to 2004, Naber served in various production and management positions for DEKALB, which later became Monsanto Choice Genetics. For the past five years she has worked as a livestock equipment marketing manager for Osborne Industries.
Naber earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from the University of Missouri.
