WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The National Swine Registry (NSR) is looking for candidates for the position of Vice President of Member Outreach and Youth Development.

The individual will be involved with various functions of all NSR departmental efforts; however, the selected candidate will be specifically responsible for the oversight and implementation of programs and activities related to swine shows and sales, marketing and communications, as well as youth development programs.

NSR involves the American Yorkshire Club, the Hampshire Swine Registry, the United Duroc Swine Registry and the American Landrace Association. It handles litter registrations, performance pedigrees, breed promotion and marketing assistance, as well as education and genetic consultation. For more, click here.

The National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) is the largest youth livestock organization in the United States. It is for youth, ages 21 and under, who have an interest in the Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace and Yorkshire breeds. NJSA offers variety of opportunities through leadership conferences, scholarship programs, and national and regional junior swine shows that include educational contests.
 
The vice president position will be based in NSR’s West Lafayette, Ind., office, however, officials point out that considerable travel will be involved. The chosen candidate will represent NSR and NJSA at various swine industry activities and events.

A degree in animal science and a background in the purebred swine industry is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate should excel in communication skills and have the desire and ability to collaborate with the NSR management team in the development of programs and activities that increase the awareness of NSR and NJSA.
