The 2011 annual meetings for the Minnesota Pork Producers Association (MPPA) and Minnesota Pork Board (MPB) will be Dec. 6 at the Country Inn & Suites, Mankato. The MPPA meeting will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and the MPB meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m.

MPPA Annual Meeting speakers and agenda items will include a presentation by National Pork Producers Council Chief Executive Director, Neil Dierks, who will address national legislative and trade issues relating to U.S. pork production, a panel discussion with Oink Outings farm tour participants, MPPA Executive Board member elections, and discussion and action on resolutions.

The MPPA, a voluntary membership association funded by the Strategic Investment Program (SIP) and Pork Partners, focuses its work on legislative and public policy matters. The MPPA does not receive or utilize Pork Checkoff funding for its programs. The MPPA Annual Meeting is open to the public, but only those who are enrolled in SIP and Pork Partners can vote and participate in discussions.

The MPB Annual Meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. Pork producers who have paid into the Pork Checkoff and individuals representing an entity that has paid into the Pork Checkoff are encouraged to attend. The MPB addresses Pork Checkoff promotional, educational and research programs.

Speakers will be National Pork Board Chief Executive Officer, Chris Novak, who will discuss national Pork Checkoff programs, U.S. Meat Export Federation Vice President of Industry Relations, John Hinners, who will review Pork Checkoff export initiatives, MPB Executive Board member elections, and financial report and program review.

Pork producers and other meeting attendees are also invited to a complimentary luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a social following the meetings.
