In a continuing effort to update pork producers on voluntary regional efforts to control porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and to encourage participation, a Voluntary Regional PRRS Elimination Project meeting will be Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Prinsburg Community Center in Prinsburg, Minn.

The meeting agenda will include program updates and reports, presentation of area mapping, recent outbreak update, and progress report on managing outbreaks. A Minnesota Board of Animal Health staff member will discuss animal mortality disposal guidelines, and Scott Dee, DVM, Pipestone Vet Clinic, will discuss research findings from the Biosecurity Overnight Downtime Study.

The collaborative effort to eliminate PRRS virus includes PRRS-CAP, USDA/Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, American Association of Swine Veterinarians, SDEC University of Minnesota, Boehringer Ingelheim PRRS Initiative, National Pork Board, Minnesota Pork Board and National Pork Checkoff.
