Global experts and innovators will meet in St. Louis this fall at the sixth annual Ag Innovation Showcase. It will be held Sept. 8-10 at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, where leaders will work together to help solve three of the world’s most pressing issues: food, farm and fuel.
The Showcase focuses on the broader approaches and insights developed by established players (influencers) as well as by emerging innovators working on resolutions of these concerns. The combination of the two – and the discussion that ensues between them – sets the Showcase apart, as an event and as a community.
This year’s speakers include Ag Showcase alumni as well as other groundbreaking innovators. The opening keynote address will be given by Harry Stine, a businessman, innovator, entrepreneur, and farmer from Adel, Iowa. He is the founder of the largest U.S. private seed company, The Stine Seed Co., and has been recognized as one of the “50 Most Influential Iowans” by The Des Moines Register, among other honors. See this interview by WHO-TV in December, 2013, to learn more about this innovator.
Other confirmed speakers include: Pamela Marrone, Ag Showcase alum and founder and CEO, Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI), Davis, Cal.; Marcus Meadows-Smith, CEO, BioConsortia Inc, Davis, CA and Auckland, New Zealand; Sara Olson, head of agro innovation intelligence, Lux Research, offices in the US, Europe, Africa, the Mideast and Asia; Brook Porter, partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, offices in China and the U.S.; Kelly Smith, director of microbials development, AgBiome and founder/CEO of Pasteuria, Durham, NC; and Douglas Ry Wagner, CTO and president, Agrinos, offices in Norway, the UK, Asia, North America, Brazil and Spain.
Since 2009, the Ag Innovation Showcase has addressed issues ranging from the growing importance of “precision agriculture” to the evolving solutions provided by biotechnology. In addition, it has also brought together people from countries around the world who have a huge stake in agriculture and an enormous appetite for innovations in agriculture.
