The Livestock Exporters Association (LEA) will hold the "Livestock Exporting 201" seminar from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Hilton Kansas City Airport in Kansas City, Mo., in conjunction with the United States Livestock Genetics Export (USLGE) annual meeting.

Experienced exporters, LEA members and industry affiliates interested in marketing livestock abroad will benefit from the day-long, in-depth discussion of the export process. This year's seminar program will expand on the topics covered in "Livestock Exporting 101," which was held last February. Areas to be covered include shipping cattle, swine, horses, sheep and goats by air; shipping cattle by sea; collecting international payments and changes the USDA has made to the livestock export process. The event also will serve as a great opportunity to network with livestock export service providers and others involved in the industry. Those new to the export industry are encouraged to attend.

"This can serve breeders who are actively trying to get involved in the export process, as well as people who could potentially provide services involved with the exporting process such as livestock trucking companies, people who are interested in having their farms used as quarantine facilities and veterinarians wanting to become more familiar with their role in the export process," LEA President Tony Clayton says.  

In addition to the program, attendees can visit with numerous vendors on display, offering a wide range of services related to the marketing livestock abroad.  

Clayton encourages anyone with an interest in marketing livestock, including seedstock producers and breeders, veterinarians and freight providers, to attend the seminar to learn the latest information on the ever-changing world of live-animal transportation in the United States and learn about programs that can be used to promote their goods and services to the international livestock community.

The cost of the seminar is $150 for LEA members and $200 for nonmembers. The registration fee includes all meals for the day and a copy of the proceedings. Advanced registration begins Dec. 3.
